The annual NWPA PDI Challenge is taking place on Saturday the 7th November at the Craig y Don Community Centre on Queens Road in Llandudno.
The hall has been booked from 1.30pm until 5.30pm and the competition itself will commence at 2pm.
This should be an excellent afternoon of viewing top quality images.
Our judge for the competition this year is Nick Hilton EFIAP/b DPAGB BPE5* from Leyland in the Lancashire & Cheshire Federation.
The competition is open to all NWPA affiliated clubs and, whilst it is essentially a domestic competition, the results are used to decide which three clubs will be invited to represent the NWPA at the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain PDI Championships next July.
Each club taking part needs to enter just one image into 8 of the 11 categories on offer - they are:
- Altered Reality
- Architecture
- Macro / Close Up
- Motion
- Nature
- Night / Contre-Jour
- Portraiture
- Scapes
- Street Scenes
- Travel
- Wild Card
Plus an extra 'Open' image to be used if a tie-break is necessary.
So to clarify - all you need to enter are 9 PDIs - 1600x1200 pixels with 1200 being the maximum height if it is a vertical image.
All NWPA Clubs can enter the competition, but if a club comes in the top three that has used work from a small number of authors – it is unlikely that they will be invited by the NWPA to represent us at Warwick where many more pictures from more authors are required.
Please also note that entries should all be images that have not been entered into either this competition or as a print into the NWPA Print Battle… but they could have been entered into the NWPA 'Individual'.
The closing date for entries is midnight on Sunday 25th October 2026
So what do you need to do now?

Phil will then give you all the details of how and where to upload your images onto the Rhyl PS PhotoEntry site.
Secondly, put the 7th November in your diaries and encourage all your members to attend what will be a superb afternoon viewing the best images from all the clubs in North Wales.
