Attendees enjoyed some excellent photographic work from across our region, ably judged by Nick Hilton of Southport Photographic Society. Nick is currently a member of the L&CPU Federation Executive. His main photographic genres are portraiture, sport and travel. He has been on the judging circuit since 2016 and has judged international and national exhibitions and inter-federation competitions, as well as at many clubs across the country. He is currently the youngest PAGB Judge.

Images were grouped and judged across the following categories:

  • Altered Reality
  • Architecture
  • Macro / Close Up
  • Motion
  • Nature
  • Night / Contre-Jour
  • Portraiture
  • Scapes
  • Street Scenes
  • Travel
  • Wild Card

It was extremely encouraging to see the number of high-scoring images demonstrating the creativity and capability of our regional camera club members.

In a close-fought and competitive competition, once again Mold CC came out victorious with some extremely high-quality work, including the judge's favourite 20-point image submitted by Andy Polakowski.

The third and fourth places were narrowly separated by a tie-break image decision between Rhyl PS and Cefni CC, with Rhyl just squeezing into 3rd place.

During the event NWPA was very pleased to make an extremely important and poignant presentation.

Our meritorious service award is given only occasionally. It recognises service that deserves our special appreciation, and a member whose contribution to our photographic community is worthy of lasting recognition.

Following his club’s nomination, our selection committee approved this award. We had hoped to congratulate Arthur in person and to thank him for all he had given. Sadly, his passing means that we cannot share that moment with him.

But the gratitude behind this award has not changed. Yesterday, we honoured his service and remembered Arthur as a valued member of our Association.

The citation reads: Arthur Lewis has been a member of Llandudno Photographic Society since the second meeting of the Society on 10th February 1981. Over the years he has been a regular attendee, has served in a number of positions on the committee and regularly participated in club competitions and events. We were delighted to be able to surprise him with a cake at a club meeting on his 90th birthday on the 4th February this year – which also marked his 45th anniversary with the Society.

The Llandudno Committee and members feel that Arthur deserves recognition for his long and loyal support to the Club.
